balloons in the air

good night last night
i took a while to lift, but then it came to it
some big balloons up in the air at a design party (too bad my phone can't record in such poor lighting)

then, i don't remember much =P

and then driving back home, always a pleasure
here's a bit of that

(note: i've removed the embedded video because it overlapped with the text ads)

alex de la iglesia blogging

i've found out that alex de la iglesia (known film director) is blogging about his latest movie "Los crímenes de Oxford" at http://blasfemandoenelvrticedeluniverso.blogspot.com/
if you know any spanish, this a great fun read

google selling domains

if you try to register for the service "google apps for your domain" you'll see that the second step of the registration reads "Enter your domain name or register a new one "
well, techcrunch reported this as google entering the domain registration arena

looking for patents

google launched patent search today (http://www.google.com/patents)
as i was searching for words to see what i could find, i tried "useless" and this came up USELESS ELECTRIC RECORDER FOR INDICATING INSTRUMENTS
the strange thing is that, if you look at the patent orignal document, you can see that it says "INKLESS" instead of "USELESS"
weird...

why does everyone hate micro$oft?

slashdot has a pretty good question up at http://ask.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/12/13/019241&from=rss
actually, what it's turning up to be good is the answers
i thought all of them were going to be just plain microsoft hatred... but read for yourself

some street walkin'

i went off for a walk
and i bought a book: "Half Empty, Half Full: Understanding the Psychological Roots of Optimism"
i've read the first chapter already and it sounds interesting. the author proposes that optimism isn't something you're born with, and you can train to be optimistic.

this is great

i'll probably end up like this

@ home

i stayed in
i didn't feel like going to work, and i keep doing the same thing... just calling up and telling them i am sick
well, but i'm determined to seized the day in anyway i can
just writing this is an example of it

so...
so?

damn, there goes my inspiration

failed "project"

i have a partially done project at http://flogview.googlepages.com/
the idea was to make a web application for browsing fotolog.com in a different manner
more so like a relational tree

what i didn't realize is that you can't get information from one site at one url, from another at another different url... i've known this for a long time, but somehow i forgot it =P

so, if you want to, you can download the html and open it as a local file (only on ie)
all you have to do is type in a fotolog username (eg: walkingalone) and then click "fetch!"

damn

i have no idea why these numbers won't match
supposedly we're running a reporting process that matches up every penny earned on each month
so the funny thing is when you have like hundreds of records, it all should add up to one number, let's say... 7
so, when the results come, it says 8... and everyone is like: wtf? why 8 and not 7???
well... i really don't fuckin' know
this is an everyday situation. in fact, it's one of the reasons i'm leaving this place =P
of course, when you've decided you're leaving it is harder to do your regular tasks. you're thinking about that time when you won't have to put up with all this...

another mail comes in... i don't really read those anymore (heh, read receipt, right!)

well, now a discussion over where to put a banner (or something) on the corporate site is taken to the manager. boy, this could take hours!

so now i got so lost in my own confusion that i didn't realize i had solved the problem. i mean, the numbers i was getting were ok, but i kept on comparing them to another figure... what an ass
i get the feeling i should get out of here as soon as i can
